The second place picture was also taken by Ted Heutsche (they could enter three photos) at John Marshall's home.  It showed a cat statue beside a beautiful fern.

 

    The third place photo was taken by Laury Brown at the Oliphant garden, showing the friendly rabbit statue.

    The People's Choice awards were determined by votes from Facebook and paper ballots from Sabine's News Cafe.

    The first place People's Choice winner was Ethan Raub with a beautiful picture of a bright yellow coreopsis with a bee settled on top.  Ethan is just 12 years old.

Second place People's Choice went to Alison Adams for her butterfly getting nectar from a butterfly bush blossom.








Ethan also took third place for his picture of a lily over the rocks by the pool.

                These were some of the talented photographers               who entered our first Garden Tour Photo Contest.

         Photos were taken during the 2011 Statesville garden & outdoor rooms tour on June 11th and June 12th.  It was a beautiful sunny - steamy weekend.   Many people enjoyed wandering the six gardens that were in prime condition.

        The photographers were limited to three photos taken at any of the gardens.  They were to enter an 8x10 print as well as a digital copy.  The entries were due on June 24th by 4:00 and were to be taken to the parks and recreation office at the new Statesville Fitness & Activity Center.
