Lively summer annuals are added around the Cryptomeria Black Dragon (evergreen)in the planters downtown by Commission member, Peggy Koepnick. The plants were ordered and organized by Ellie McMillan. The lantana pictured is Landmark Sunrise Rose Improved Lantana. It can withstand less water, and attracts butterflies. The round leaved silver foliage is Dichondra 'Silver Falls'. This is recommended for containers and will spill over the planter edge. The small petunia like plant is Calibrachoa Million Bells 'Cherry Pink'. These will also attract humming birds. (Kal-ih-bruh-KO-uh) There are Superbells blue Calibrachoa in some of the pots. The other annuals include sun coleus, Alabama Sunset, Dusty miller, pink Wave petunias, which will drape over the edge of the pot and Margarita, sweet potato vine, also a 'spiller'. Angelonia, AngelMist White and Angelface pink, which grow 14-18" tall, will give some height. Portulaca or Purslane or moss rose are low succulents which require very little water. The Purple Heart wandering jew is drought tolerant. |
